Elizabeth and Chris
We Are Forever Grateful
Every family faces challenges. Members of a family supporting a loved one with mental health issues face a unique set of challenges. Elizabeth and I have been married for nearly 18 years. Together we have navigated Elizabeth’s mental health difficulties; finding the right medical professionals has been essential in this journey. Nothing illustrated that more than what we went through in the fall of 2019, which brought us to Skyland.
Skyland Trail is unique. It’s not simply a group of world-class physicians and staff working in a welcoming facility on manicured grounds. Though those things are nice. It’s the exceptional care our family received that makes Skyland exceptional. The medical team and counseling staff immediately began to work with Elizabeth as a person, not just a patient. They focused on finding the right balance of medications and healthier lifestyle habits. They also provided support and guidance to our family, how to better support Elizabeth, and prepare us all for our future beyond Skyland.
For us, Skyland was life-changing. There were times when we didn’t know how we’d make it through. Thankfully we did make it through that time and feel we’re better for it. There isn’t a week that goes by that we aren’t reminded of an experience or relationship forged during our time working with Skyland Trail. We are forever grateful.
The time and financial commitment required at Skyland is significant. We view that as a worthwhile investment in the future of our family. For that reason we’ve chosen to support Skyland through monthly giving through Skyland’s Grateful Families program.
