Skyland Trail Plans Campus Expansion
ATLANTA – Skyland Trail, a nonprofit mental health treatment organization for adults and teens, announces plans for a significant expansion of its main campus for adult treatment services located at the intersection of North Druid Hills Road and Buford Highway in Brookhaven.
Skyland Trail purchased the .64 acre former restaurant property located at 2900 Buford Highway in 2023 and, in April 2024, purchased the 1.78 acre former hotel property located at 1975 North Druid Hills Road. Both properties are contiguous to Skyland Trail’s existing main adult campus, and the acquisition expands the organization’s multi-building campus on the corner of North Druid Hills Road and Buford Highway. Funding was made available through generous support from an anonymous donor.
The Skyland Trail campus expansion effort will be a gradual process over several years, and Skyland Trail welcomes input from community partners and civic leaders. Broadly, Skyland Trail’s goals for the main campus expansion will be to geographically consolidate and grow services, improve efficiency, and create an environment that reflects the organization’s whole person approach to wellness. Construction plans will meet objectives identified in the organization’s recent strategic plan focused on expanding services and meeting psychiatric treatment needs in Georgia.
The organization is committed to contributing to efforts to address the rising demand for quality residential and day treatment mental health programs. Skyland Trail leaders and members of the Board of Directors also are exploring options to allow for expanded programming to connect individuals with complex mental health needs with therapeutic services proven to improve long-term health and recovery.
Skyland Trail began residential mental health treatment services for adults in 1989 and expanded to offer residential treatment for adolescents ages 14 to 17 in 2019. Skyland Trail’s five campuses are all located in the metro Atlanta area. Current treatment services for adults are offered at the main adult campus in Brookhaven, which includes the Charles B. West Campus, the Dorothy C. Fuqua Center, and the Rollins Campus. Additional adult treatment services currently are offered at the residential South Campus in Decatur and the North Transitional Living Campus in the Skyland Trail community in Brookhaven. Adolescent residential treatment services are offered at the J. Rex Fuqua Campus in Chamblee.
