Skyland Slam Raises Over $70,000 to Support Mental Health Services in Atlanta
ATLANTA – Skyland Trail hosted its Skyland Slam pickleball tournament on October 1, 2024 at the Painted Pickle in Atlanta. More than 150 participants gathered for pickleball play, a silent auction and pub games. A generous donor matched all silent auction proceeds dollar for dollar, helping Skyland Trail exceed their fundraising goal for the event.
Skyland Slam raised over $70,000 to support Skyland Trail’s financial aid program and life-changing mental health services. In 2023 alone, Skyland Trail’s financial aid program distributed over $2.5 million, helping 247 clients access crucial mental health services that they may not have otherwise been able to afford.
“When my insurance coverage ended, I knew I still had more work to do,” said Hope, a Skyland Trail program graduate. “I was unable to cover any treatment out of pocket. Thankfully financial aid stepped in, allowing me to continue the work I was doing at Skyland. I know leaving Skyland abruptly would have interfered with my recovery process and I’m so grateful I got to finish out the program!”
Skyland Slam was led by the Skyland Trailblazers, a group of Atlanta’s emerging philanthropic community leaders who support Skyland Trail and its clients and families. The 2024 Trailblazers co-chairs are Christie Farmer and Elizabeth Waller.
