Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Update

The DEI Committee is a group of volunteer staff members who work to ensure Skyland Trail is an inclusive community for staff, clients, and community supporters. Some recent efforts of the committee includee:

  • Skyland Trail hosted a virtual community professional education workshop on Intergeneration Race-Based Trauma. The workshop was presented by Dr. Sonja Sutherland. More than 100 professionals, including Skyland Trail clinicians, attended.
  • Skyland Trail clinical staff participated in a training on racial trauma and substance use. The training was presented by Dr. Delisa Brown, Founding/Managing Partner of CDJ, LLC, and an assistant professor of addiction sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina.
  • Campus-wide Pride Month celebration and a campus celebration for International Day of Transgender Visibility
  • Campus accessibility improvements including installing push button door openers (made possible by funds raised through the 2023 Skyland Trail Associates Spring Luncheon)
