Community Support
We are grateful for the many individuals and organizations who support our mission.
Why We Give
Over 20 years ago, friends invited us to attend Benefits of Laughter as their guests, and we haven’t missed one since. What began as a fun evening out evolved into an ongoing involvement with Skyland Trail in a variety of ways.
Our connection with Skyland Trail has enabled us to become much more educated about mental health, and we’ve come to understand the significant need for top notch services that bridge the gap between in-hospital treatment and everyday life. Having had both family and friends affected by mental illness, we recognize the invaluable benefits of Skyland Trail’s commitment to excellent treatment.
We feel strongly that Skyland Trail is a great steward of its resources. Our participation in special events like Benefits of Laughter and the Associates Spring Luncheon consistently reveal the enthusiasm and commitment of the staff as well as the loyalty of its supporters. Particularly noteworthy is Skyland Trail’s ongoing efforts to adapt its services to meet the evolving needs in the mental health landscape, including newer programs focused on adolescents and young adults. Anyone who is parenting teenagers is acutely aware of the critical need for mental health care in our nation at this time, and Atlanta is fortunate that this incredible resource is located right here in our city.

Community Support Highlights
Mental Health Month Giving
Thanks to a gift matching challenge donation from a Grateful Family, Skyland Trail raised a total of $14,500 through 37 donations in May for Mental Health Month.
Club Estates Garden Club
Club Estates Garden Club gave a $5,000 to establish a therapeutic hummingbird garden within the existing Metamorphosis Garden at the adult campus and to provide horticulture supplies to support adult client groups in 2024. Each Skyland Trail campus includes gardens and therapeutic outdoor spaces. Horticultural therapy is a part of our holistic approach to wellness.
The Gift of Health
Skyland Trail Board member William Shaheen made a gift to get our clients moving! He donated basketballs for our adolescent program and a treadmill for our adult program. Teen and adult programs participate in recreational therapy, including team sports, and work with a fitness trainer to improve physical health and strength.
Supporting Alumni
A gift from an anonymous donor is funding alumni retreats for adult program graduates. The retreats give alumni a chance to connect with peers, refresh their skills with Skyland Trail staff, practice mindfulness, and participate in self-care to refresh and recharge. About 10 alumni attended a summer retreat to Emma’s Driftwood Farm in Darien this summer. A fall retreat to The Lodge at Walnut Grove is planned for November.
DID YOU KNOW? Skyland Trail has awarded more than $25.2 million in financial aid since 1999.
