Additional Mental Health Services
Skyland Trail offers a range of mental health treatment and education services in Atlanta. Some programs are offered as add-ons to our residential and day treatment programs. Other mental health services are available to Skyland Trail graduates as well as individuals in the community with a diagnosed mental illness.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or TMS, is an FDA-approved noninvasive treatment for adults with depression. TMS uses a low intensity magnetic pulse to create an electrical current in the brain. Multiple studies have indicated that TMS is an effective treatment for major depressive disorder and treatment-resistant depression with low risks and minimal side effects.
The Skyland Trail vocational services program in Atlanta supports adults with mental illness who want to pursue employment or volunteer positions or who want to continue their education. Group and individual sessions focus on clarifying career goals, identifying strengths, building skills, and learning how to problem solve in school and career settings.
Whether receiving an initial diagnosis or clarifying a previous one, assessment clients receive a comprehensive, consumer-friendly report – a roadmap for effective treatment at Skyland Trail or through another mental health service provider. A formal assessment summary and treatment recommendations are presented in both written and verbal formats to the client and his or her family by a Skyland Trail psychiatrist.
Skyland Trail offers continuing education opportunities for mental health professionals.
