Psychiatric Treatment for LGBTQ Adults and Teens
The evidence-based residential mental health treatment program at Skyland Trail helps LGBTQ teens ages 14 to 17 and adults ages 18+ who are struggling with depression, anxiety disorders, and bipolar disorders. Skyland Trail is an effective and welcoming environment for LGBTQ adults and teens – including cisgender, transgender, agender, genderqueer, gender nonbinary, and gender questioning individuals – who are experiencing mental illness.
Our clinical team receives training on supporting LGBTQ individuals and helps each patient identify the best strategies for living a life true to their values, staying healthy, and achieving identified goals. Those strategies include an individualized mix of medications, stress management, cognitive and behavioral skills building, nutrition and healthy living education, and social skills development.
Our staff psychiatrists are comfortable and have experience managing medications and conducting psychotherapy with individuals who are also taking hormone therapy. Our weekly schedule includes a group specifically for LGBTQ adult clients. All staff members are comfortable and practiced at using a client's pronoun and name of choice throughout treatment.
We’ve also taken steps to make our facilities more welcoming, like offering all-gender restrooms. Adult and teen clients reside in private patient rooms with adjoining private bathrooms.

Our residential and day treatment programs are in-network with most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, ComPsych, Magellan, Optum/United Behavioral Health/Oscar Health, and Humana Military / TRICARE East. Medicare and Medicaid do not cover our services at any level of care.
Residential Program Private Pay Rate: $1,300 per day
Financial aid is available to eligible families to reduce private pay costs.
Adolescent Program Fees
Adolescent Residential Program Private Pay Rate: $1,300 per day
Adolescent Treatment Program Private Pay Rate: $625 per day
Our adolescent residential treatment program is in-network with many plans offered by Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, ComPsych, Magellan, Optum/United Behavioral Health/Oscar Health, and Humana Military / TRICARE East*. The adolescent residential program for teens is a 12 week program. Medicare and Medicaid do not cover our services at any level of care.
