Spring Luncheon Highlights Mental Health Needs of Teens and Caregivers of Adults
ATLANTA – Skyland Trail, a nationally recognized nonprofit mental health treatment organization for adults with mental illness, recently held its twelfth annual Associates Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show. More than 300 guests filled the ballroom of the Piedmont Driving Club to enjoy lunch, a fashion show by Neiman Marcus, and a presentation from keynote speaker, Jacki Lyden.
The event was led by Associates president Suci Jackson and vice president Denise Rezek. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, patrons, and guests, more than $83,000 was raised in support of Skyland Trail. Proceeds from the event will support Skyland Trail’s expansion of services to youth ages 14 to 17 at the J. Rex Fuqua Campus for adolescents scheduled to open in the Fall of 2019. This program will fill an urgent need in the Atlanta region for evidence-based, high-quality mental health treatment for teens with mood and anxiety disorders.
Suci Jackson, Denise Rezek, and Skyland Trail president and CEO Beth Finnerty welcomed guests and sponsors including leadership sponsor IBERIABANK; gold sponsor Atlanta Fine Homes | Sotheby’s International Realty; and silver sponsors Anna Paré, MD, Dermatology Consultants, JPMorgan Chase & Co., and VPI Design.
Keynote speaker, Jacki Lyden shared her personal experiences growing up with a mother with psychosis and now acting as her caregiver later in life, as well as excerpts from her New York Times bestseller, “Daughter of the Queen of Sheba.”
In-kind sponsors of the event included Anna Paré, M.D. Dermatology Consultants; Laura Pearce; Copper+Crane; Neiman Marcus; Woo Skincare + Cosmetics; w.port; Frolic Boutique; Peridot; Melissa Payne Baker; and Cindy Ensor Designs.
